Identity Awareness and Exploration
Everything you believe and know can change, dissolve or expand until the real you is fully present in all you do. You can change at any time, when the desire to know what's true for you and about you, has more pull than staying in oblivion - or fear - pretending you can't do anything about it.
So many of us hold beliefs, have adapted ourselves, and are living the lives we were told to live by our life experiences, our family, our peers, our teachers and mentors, our friends, the bullies, the lovers, the job, the culture, the media, the systems - in order to be acceptable to them.
Be brave. Follow the pull to break free and see what happens . . .

Underneath all of that, do you know who you really are? Can you be who you really are, despite all of the outside influences?
Why do you think or feel the way you do? How does your mind works to support or thwart your desires?
How do you change what no longer serves you? How do you find the courage to speak your truth to power, or to fear?
Can you become more accepting and understanding of the emotional impact various life experiences have on the choices of others, of yourself?

Introduction to Identity Awareness - a 2-hour workshop was developed in response to the growing demand for training about how to be an effective Active Bystander or Upstander for justice, fairness, understanding, and dismantling racism and other oppressive systems we encounter and witness. This workshop aims to fill gaps in the various skills trainings now being offered by focusing on each individual's inner capacity to use more effectively the skills they're being taught, by becoming more aware of and dismantling the internal barriers that prevent successful implementation of these skills.
This workshop and the study group are suitable for adults and/or mature teens.

In the workshop, you will share some information about your various identities with other members of the group.
This means everyone agrees to create a judgment-free, emotionally safe space and experience for oneself and each other
so we can participate fully by being honest, brave, self-reflective and willing to learn and explore; we agree to respectfully listen to each other and not disclose (within or after the workshop) what we may hear from others.

UNDERSTANDING JABSS - A workshop for self-awareness
How do JABSS - Judgments, Assumptions, Beliefs, Spells and Secrets – affect your experience of the world and contribute to interpersonal conflicts and misunderstandings? JABSS are mental tools that are constantly present and usually go unnoticed. They feed our fears, influence our perceptions, thinking, decisions, intuition, reactions to and experiences of others, and our choices. In this workshop we explore each element and gain a deeper and clearer understanding of how our own JABSS – turned inward or outward - operate and influence our feelings and choices. The practice of this understanding can reduce conflict, make us more empathetic listeners, help us to ask more insightful questions, and become more open to and accepting of ourselves and what others in our lives have to say and offer.
Study Group: Committed explorers, who agree to meet for six 90-minute sessions, will go deeper and learn more about our internal operating system, our JABSS, and how to recognize and access our true authenticity and internal essence. Attending the 2-hour introductory workshop described above is highly recommended but not required. The workshop and the study group are suitable for adults and/or mature teens.
